Exploring Hana's Countryside

I grew up as a city girl, not the New York type with large skyscrapers and endless amounts of window shopping opportunities, but your average city girl with conveniences at the tip of your finger. The gas station down the road, church house across the street, Food 4 Less (remember this place?) up the hill, 24-Hour Fitness a few miles away (always a plus), swim pools, bowling alleys, parks, etc. that type of city girl. We didn't have open fields for very long and before I knew it my entire neighborhood that once was a childhood playground was covered with homes. I've always loved the outdoors, but being the wife of a rancher has opened a whole new world. Look at all this grass lavishly lining the beautiful ocean!  And I get to see it every day;  appreciate it, understand it, come to know it. I honestly read this quote by Helen Keller just the other day, "To me a lush carpet of pine needles or spongy grass is more welcome than the most luxurious persian rug." I don't know, I guess I'm getting used to this country lifestyle. Nature...what a wonderful work of art. I've quite enjoyed exploring the Hana countryside. Every time Aviana and I venture out to check cows with our cowboy it's always different and always an adventure!

In different ways so much of this reminds me of South Africa. It makes me nostalgic to go back to where all of this fun ranch business began!

She saw that nice, round, perfect cow pie and started to make her way around it, but in a split-second decision she must have wondered what it was. SPLAT. I didn't think she'd care. I didn't care. But, apparently she did care and wasn't too happy about it. It did stink. I don't blame her. I laughed, hard.
